Musaala condemns Targeting IDPs in Raghwan District northern Marib

Musaala for Human Rights strongly condemns the shelling carried out by the Houthi group on Monday, September 7, 2026, targeting a gathering of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Raghwan District, north of Marib Governorate.

According to the organization’s verification and documentation, several projectiles struck a settlement housing approximately 23 displaced families, killing two children—a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl—and injuring 15 people, including a woman and eight children. The attack also damaged several shelters and the government complex where displaced families were residing.

Musaala expresses its grave concern over the targeting of displaced civilians living in extremely vulnerable humanitarian conditions and particularly condemns the killing and injury of children and other civilians.

The organization considers the attack a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which requires parties to protect civilians and distinguish between civilian and military targets. Children are entitled to special protection under international humanitarian law.

Musaala calls for urgent humanitarian assistance to the affected families, including adequate shelter, medical care and medicines for the injured, and psychosocial support for children and affected families.

The organization holds the Houthi group responsible for the attack and its resulting civilian casualties and property damage. Musaala reaffirms its commitment to monitoring and documenting violations against civilians and displaced persons, preserving available evidence, and supporting accountability and civilian protection.
